Big Game Huntas X Killem X House of Blues-10-29-15
"This is a journey into SOOOOOUUUUUUND..."
On a Thursday in Houston, TX, especially in the midtown-downtown area, the streets are lit with party goers and hipsters of every kind clamoring to get their collective groove going at any of the multiple hot spots that have become staples in the city. A fix, if that's what you would call it, seems to be in order as the weekend begins and the end of the week disillusionment with one's 9-5 becomes all too real.
But this past Thursday night at the House of Blues, smack dab in the middle of what is arguably Houston's most popular night of the work week, Houston, Los Angeles and El Paso came togther to do something different, albeit maybe even semi-confising for some regular night scene goers. With ex Mars Volta percussionist/keyboardist Eureka the Butcher and Low End Theory founder and Los Angeles beat scene luminary DJ Nobody in tow performing togther as Big Game Huntas, we literally began the process of pushing the sonic envelope a bit further here in the city.
From sound beds that weaved in and out of trap, psychedelic, hip hop, drum and bass, mood, ambient and progressive, the evening was enthralling both sonically and visually. With the tables set up in the middle of the room, the audience was invited into the full on beat scene experience from two innovators in the game.
The Awfset Collective added their flare of eclectic left field illness in an art installation that blended perfectly into the trippy sounds and bass heavy vibes of the evening. The brothers were a perfect compliment for the asthetic and ambience brought on by our honorary guests.
S/O to all of the locals who supported our campaign up to this show, and to radio stations KTRU, TROY HipHop and All Real Radio for allowing us to invade your airwaves and introduce a bit what's to come in 2016 from the collective. We'll all be seeing a lot more of each other in the coming months!
Let's build, family...
Collectively Cliqued Up,
